THE BALLAD OF LINDSAY MONROE

OK, THIS IS SOMETHING I POSTED ON THE CSI:NY MESSAGE BOARD SHORTLY AFTER WATCHING S2, PARTAINING TO THE PROBLEM THAT PEOPLE WERE HAVING WITH LINDSAY'S CHARACTER ON THE SHOW, B/C SHE IS BECOMING WAY TOO ANNOYING TO LIKE ANYMORE.

i totally agree with the posters about lindsay and how her character is underdeveloped. (as most of you know, i am not a fan of lindsay)

BUT...

i think they should have eased lindsay into the role of the newest member of the team (like wolfe on miami) or introduced her before they taped vanessa's final ep, IMO, so the viewers could get used to her and not feel like they just threw in a replacement for aiden. (it wasn't fair to those of us who liked aiden and were saddened by her departure)

now, while i am not a fan of lindsay, i did like "zoo york", because it seems she did have personality (at one time). for example: the way lindsay and danny interacted (he tricked her into calling mac "sir", but he didn't do it in a snarky way and she just took it as a joke, the right way, and didn't snap at him for his obvious trickery) that was actually kinda sweet and flowed well between the two of them, because danny was being danny and not trying to be something he wasn't, like he seems to be later on when interacting with lindsay. her interaction with mac was great, too (she wanted to learn everything he had to offer and he wanted to teach her everything he knew) also, with stella, it wasn't like a competition or anything. and i didn't get the feeling that any of the team was thinking: "i won't like the new girl, because she's here to take over aiden's place." and she didn't act like she was there to take over aiden's job, either.

lindsay was pleasant, she was funny, she was take charge, in some ways (i.e. when she slammed that dude up against the car, and mac asks her what they fed her in montana) yet, she was naive enough to make ya believe that she wasn't from nyc and didn't know quite how to interact with everybody or how to relax in her new surroundings. she wasn't dependent on the other characters, she was her own person from her own place and had her own experiences and techniques in crime scene investigating. also, i liked that she was a fountain of knowledge (much like hawkes, who IMO would be the better romantic interest for lindsay, if there must be one...) and i loved how she would just throw out random thoughts and what not. i guess what i am saying is that in the first few eps lindsay was much more believable, much more likable, and much more interesting (the writers should have played on her strengths and kept going forward, instead of pushing her toward danny).

now, she is just boring. i don't like how the writers took a character with such potential and turned her into a wet blanket. (kinda sad, really) she annoys me with her childish behavior, even if it is from her past experiences. and as for her and danny: sorry, but i see no chemistry b/t the two of them. why force something that is not there? why not just write interesting plots and keep the two of them friends and gradually ease into something (if anything) romantic? but IMO, i think the writers should keep them JUST FRIENDS, with occasional flirting b/t the two characters much like mac/stella or danny/aiden in s1. i don't watch the show hoping for a hook-up b/t danny and lindsay (or a hook-up between any of the main characters, really) although... i have expressed my interest in a potential hook-up b/t danny and angell. :) i watch it because the cast is phenominal (sp?) and i like to see what will happen next to them as a whole. it's good tv, people! ;)
